October U.S. Housing Starts Decrease

U.S. housing starts in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.425 million, dropping 4.2% from the revised September figure and 8.8% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts declined 6.1% from September to 855,000.

U.S. building permits in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.526 million, decreasing 2.4% from September and falling 10.1% from the same month in 2021. Single-family authorizations shrank 3.6% from September to 839,000 in October. See U.S. Census Bureau
