January Canadian building construction investment declined 1.9% from December 2025 but rose 7.8% year-over-year to $23.4 billion (CAD). Residential construction spending decreased 3.0% from December to $16.4 billion, while non-residential totals were up 0.8% to $7.0 billion. Seasonally adjusted single-family investment was 3.4% lower than in December at $7.3 billion, while multi-unit levels fell 2.7% to $9.1 billion in January. See Statistics Canada
