The recently released 2025 U.S. Houzz & Home Study: Renovation Trends surveyed 21,889 homeowners, with 10,981 who either renovated in 2024 or have planned projects this year. In 2024, 54% of homeowners renovated, down two percentage points from the prior year. Kitchens and bathrooms remained the most popular rooms to renovate at 24% in both categories, with the median spend dipping slightly for kitchens to $22,000 compared to $24,000 in 2023. The median spend for primary bathrooms fell 13% from 2023 to $13,000. Last year, 41% of respondents purchased large furniture, and 34% invested in storage and organization, increasing by four and one percentage points, respectively.
Baby boomers were the largest group renovating last year at 59%, growing three percentage points over 2023; however, Seniors posted the highest median spend at $22,000.
In 2025, 52% of homeowners surveyed expect to remodel, and 44% plan to decorate. The planned median spend for these renovations is $15,000, consistent with 2024. See 2025 Houzz & Home Study
