Weyerhaeuser announced this week an agreement to purchase 117,000 acres of prime timberlands in North Carolina and Virginia from Roanoke Timberlands LLC, a subsidiary of Roseburg Forest Products. The acquired acreage features mature, high-quality timberlands with an expected average harvest yield of 7.4 tons per acre annually over the first five years.
