U.S. Single Family Home Size Continues Upward Trend in Q4 2021

The fourth quarter 2021 U.S. Census Quarterly Starts and Completions by Purpose and Design report showed that the median square footage of a single-family homes rose 3.2% from the same period in 2020 to 2,338 feet.  This is the third consecutive quarterly increase, which is attributed to the need for additional home office space due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This trend is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. See NAHB
