U.S. Residential Housing Permits Decline in All Regions

U.S. single-family permits through September dropped 13.3% over 2022 to 693,908. All four regions posted declines, with the West having the largest at 19.3%. The Northeast reported the smallest decrease at 10.8%, while the South fell 11.3% and the Midwest shrunk 13.3%. The multifamily sector also posted reductions across all regions, with the Northeast seeing the steepest at 29.9%. See NAHB
