U.S. Manufacturing Shipments Up in September

Seasonally adjusted shipments for all U.S. manufacturing industries rose 0.4% from August to $588.1 billion in September, the fifth straight monthly increase. Wood product shipments were down 0.3% in September to $13.3 billion compared to the prior month. Shipments of furniture and related products grew 1.4% from August to $6.8 billion.

New orders for all U.S. manufacturing were up 2.8% from August to $601.5 billion in September. Furniture and related product orders were 2.0% higher at $6.7 billion. See U.S. Census Bureau
