U.S. Housing Starts Weaken in March

U.S. housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.42 million, dipping 0.8% from February and 17.2% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts rose 2.7% from February to 861,000.

U.S. building permits in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.41 million, decreasing 8.8% from February and falling 24.8% from March 2022. Single-family authorizations were up 4.1% from February to 818,000 in March. See U.S. Census Bureau
