U.S. Housing Starts Weaken in June

U.S. housing starts in June were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.35 million, increasing 3.0% from May but 4.4% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts fell 2.2% to 980,000 in June.

U.S. building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.45 million, up 3.4% from May but down 3.1% from June 2023. Single-family authorizations declined 2.3% from May to 934,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
