U.S. Housing Starts Up in September

U.S. housing starts in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.42 million, up 1.9% from the revised August estimate and 11.1% higher than the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts increased 8.5% from August to 1.12 million.

U.S. building permits in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.55 million, increasing 5.2% from August, and rising 8.1% from the same month in 2019. Single-family authorizations grew 7.8% from August to 1.12 million. See U.S. Census Bureau
