U.S. Housing Starts Up in February

U.S. housing starts in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.77 million, increasing 6.8% from January and 22.3% higher than the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts rose 5.7% from January to 1.22 million.

U.S. building permits in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.86 million, down 1.9% from January but 7.7% higher than the same month in 2021. Single-family authorizations fell 0.5% from the previous month to 1.21 million in February. See U.S. Census Bureau
