U.S. Housing Starts Jump in June

U.S. housing starts in June were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.19 million, up 17.3% from the revised May estimate but 4.0% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts increased 17.2% from May to 831,000.

U.S. building permits in May were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.24 million, rising 2.1% from May, but declining 2.5% from the same month in 2019. Single-family authorizations grew 11.8% from May to 834,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
