U.S. Housing Starts Increase Slightly in March

U.S. housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.79 million, up 0.3% from the revised February figure and 3.9% higher than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts fell 1.7% from February to 1.2 million.

U.S. building permits in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.87 million, increasing 0.4% from February and rising 6.7% from the same month in 2021. Single-family authorizations dropped 4.8% from February to 1.15 million in March. See U.S. Census Bureau
