U.S. Housing Starts Increase Slightly in June

U.S. housing starts in June were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.56 million, decreasing 2% from the revised May figure and 6.3% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts fell 8.1% from May to 982,000.

U.S. building permits in June were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.69 million, dipping 0.6% from May but 1.4% from the same month in 2021. Single-family authorizations dropped 8% from May to 1.05 million in June. See U.S. Census Bureau
