U.S. housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.74 million, up 19.4% from the revised February estimate and 37.0% higher than the comparable month in 2020. Single-family housing starts increased 15.3% from February to 1.24 million.
U.S. building permits in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.77 million, rising 2.7% from February and jumping 30.2% from the same month in 2020. Single-family authorizations grew 4.6% from February to 1.20 million. See U.S. Census Bureau
