U.S. Housing Starts Grow in September

U.S. housing starts in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.36 million, rising 7.0% from August but 7.2% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts increased 3.2% to 963,000 over August.

U.S. building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.47 million, decreasing 4.4% from August and declining 7.2% from September 2022. Single-family authorizations were up 1.8% from August to 965,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
