U.S. Housing Starts Drop in July

U.S. housing starts in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.45 million, decreasing 9.6% from the revised June figure and 8.1% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts fell 10.1% from June to 916,000.

U.S. building permits in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.67 million, dipping 1.3% from June but increasing 1.1% from the same month in 2021. Single-family authorizations shrank 4.3% from June to 928,000 in July. See U.S. Census Bureau
