U.S. Housing Starts Down in October

U.S. housing starts in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.52 million, decreasing 0.7% from the revised September estimate but 0.4% higher than the comparable month in 2020. Single-family housing starts fell 3.9% from September to 1.04 million.

U.S. building permits in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.65 million, increasing 4% from September and up 3.4% from the same month in 2020. Single-family authorizations rose 2.7% to 1.07 million in October. See U.S. Census Bureau
