U.S. housing starts in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.42 million, down 10.3% from the revised January estimate and 9.3% lower than the comparable month in 2020. Single-family housing starts decreased 8.5% from January to 1.04 million.
U.S. building permits in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.68 million, dropping 10.8% from January but rising 17% from the same month in 2020. Single-family authorizations fell 10.0% from January to 1.14 million. See U.S. Census Bureau
