U.S. residential furniture factory orders in October rose 40% from the comparable month in 2019 with 77% of manufacturers reporting increases, according to a recent survey of manufacturers and distributors. The continued rise in October helped year-to-date orders grow 14% from 2019, with 59% of survey respondents reporting higher levels than the year prior.
Furniture shipments increased 8% over October 2019 but were down 8% compared to the first ten months of the prior year. With new orders exceeding shipments, backlogs continued to climb, registering 141% higher than October 2019. See Smith Leonard
