U.S. Furniture Sales Continue to Rise in November

U.S. residential furniture factory orders in November 2020 rose 17% above the comparable month in 2019 with nearly 75% of manufacturers reporting increases, according to a recent survey of manufacturers and distributors. A strong November helped year-to-date orders grow 14% from 2019, with 66% of survey respondents reporting higher levels than the year prior.

Furniture shipments were up 3% over November 2019 but fell 7% compared to the first eleven months of 2019. With new orders exceeding shipments, backlogs climbed to the survey’s historic levels, registering 148% higher than November 2019. See Smith Leonard
