U.S. Furniture Orders Increase Year-over-Year

U.S. residential furniture factory orders in October 2023 were $2.4 billion, up 22.4% from the comparable month in 2022 but 10.6% lower than in September. Year-to-date orders rose 1.7% from the first ten months of 2022 to $22.8 billion.

Furniture shipments dropped 8.1% from last October to $2.3 billion but grew 1.5% from September. Year-to-date shipments were $23.9 billion, a 17.9% decline from 2022. October backlogs were $2.7 billion, shrinking 43.0% from 2022 and down 4.5% from the prior month. See Smith Leonard
