U.S. residential furniture factory orders in May fell 8% from the comparable month in 2019, but were up 166% from April, according to a recent survey of manufacturers and distributors. Year-to-date orders were 18% lower than the same period last year. Of those surveyed, only 19% reported higher orders than May 2019.
Shipments rose nearly 45% over April but decreased 31% from May 2019. For the first five months, shipments were down 18% compared to 2019. See Smith Leonard
