U.S. Furniture Orders and Shipments Grow in August

U.S. residential furniture factory orders in August were $2.19 billion, down 7.5% from the comparable month last year but 14.0% higher than July. Year-to-date new orders increased 0.2% compared to the eight months of 2023.

Furniture shipments decreased 9.5% from last August to $2.37 billion but rose 15.4% from July. Backlogs were $2.42 billion, shrinking 10.0% from August 2023 and 5.3% from the prior month. See Smith Leonard
