U.S. wood product manufacturing sales in the first quarter of 2024 decreased 4.4% from Q4 2023 to $24.7 billion and fell 11.2% from the same period last year. After-tax profits grew 19.9% to $1.5 billion from the prior three months but were 39.8% lower than Q1 2023.
Furniture sales were down 5.6% from Q4 2023 to $16.2 billion and 14.8% from Q1 a year ago. After-tax profits in Q1 increased 61.8% from the fourth quarter of last year, reaching $945 million, but declined 21.0% from the same quarter in 2023. See U.S. Census Bureau
