U.S. Consumer Confidence Softens in September

U.S. consumer confidence registered at 98.7 in September, down 6.9 points from the adjusted August reading, according to The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index. The index measuring current business and labor market conditions decreased 10.3 points to 124.3 in September. The short-term outlook index for the income, business, and labor markets fell 4.6 points from August to 81.7.
