U.S. Construction Spending Up Year-over-Year in March

U.S. construction spending in March was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2.20 trillion, down 0.5% from February but 2.8% higher than the same month in 2024.

Private spending dipped 0.6% to $1.69 trillion in March compared to February. Residential expenditures decreased 0.4% to $937.7 billion, and non-residential expenditures were $750.3 billion, slipping 0.8% from February.

Educational construction spending in the private and public sectors totaled $134.6 billion, declining 0.8% from the previous month but increasing 5.3% from March 2024. Construction spending on healthcare was $68.8 billion, falling 1.8% from February and 1.6% from the comparable month in 2024.
