U.S. Construction Spending Strengthens in February

U.S. construction spending in February was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2.20 trillion, up 0.7% from January and 2.9% higher than the same month in 2024.

Private spending grew 0.9% to $1.69 trillion in February compared to January. Residential expenditures rose 1.3% to $928.9 billion, and non-residential expenditures were $757.5 billion, increasing 0.4% from the prior month.

Educational construction spending in the private and public sectors totaled $135.7 billion, climbing 0.3% from the previous month and 6.7% from February 2024. Construction spending on healthcare was $69.8 billion, improving 0.3% from January and 2.1% from the comparable month in 2024.
