U.S. construction spending in June was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2.14 trillion, down 0.4% from May and 2.9% lower than the same month in 2024.
Private spending fell 0.5% from May and 5.2% from June 2024 to $1.62 trillion. Residential expenditures decreased 0.7% to $883.1 billion in June and shrank 6.2% from last year. Non-residential expenditures were $738.8 billion, dropping 0.3% from May and 4.0% from June 2024.
Educational construction spending in the private and public sectors totaled $137.0 billion, up 0.2% from the previous month but dipping 0.1% from June 2024. Construction spending on healthcare was $69.0 billion, declining 0.2% from May but growing 0.4% from the comparable month last year.
