U.S. construction spending in April was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2.15 trillion, down 0.4% from March and 0.5% lower than the same month in 2024.
Private spending fell 0.7% to $1.64 trillion in April compared to March. Residential expenditures decreased 0.9% to $892.8 billion, and non-residential expenditures were $746.0 billion, dipping 0.5% from March.
Educational construction spending in the private and public sectors totaled $135.6 billion, unchanged from the previous month but increased 6.6% from April 2024. Construction spending on healthcare was $69.4 billion, growing 0.4% from March and 2.8% from the comparable month in 2024.
