U.S. Construction Spending Slightly Up in September

U.S. construction spending in September was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.4 trillion, rising 0.3% from August and up 1.5% from the year-ago period.  Year-to-date spending grew 4.1% from the first nine months of 2019 to $1.059 billion.

Private construction spending increased 0.9% from August to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.075 trillion.  Residential levels for September expanded 2.8% from the previous month to $610.9 billion, while non-residential totals dipped 1.5% from August to $464.1 billion.  See U.S. Census Bureau
