U.S. Construction Spending Nearly Unchanged in July

U.S. construction spending in July was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.36 trillion, rising 0.1% from June but down 0.1% from the year-ago period.  Year-to-date spending rose 4.0% from the first seven months of 2019 to $792.6 billion.

Private construction spending increased 0.6% from June to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.01 trillion.  Residential levels for July were up 2.1% from the previous month to $546.6 billion, but non-residential totals dipped 1.0% from June to $466.9 billion.  See U.S. Census Bureau
