U.S. Construction Spending Increases Year-over-Year

U.S. construction spending in June was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2.15 trillion, dipping 0.3% from May but 6.2% higher than the same month in 2023.

Private spending fell 0.3% to $1.66 trillion in June. Residential expenditures dropped 0.3% to $928.0 billion, while non-residential totals were down 0.1% to $736.6 billion from May.

In both the private and public sectors, educational spending was $126.1 billion, shrinking 0.7% from last month but up 4.4% from June 2023. Construction spending in healthcare was $66.3 billion, 1.2% lower than May but increased 2.5% from the comparable month last year.
