U.S. Builders Constructed Fewer Large Homes in 2019

U.S. construction of new homes larger than 5,000 square feet in 2019 shrunk 2.9% from 2018, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Survey of Construction. The findings were consistent with the slight downward trend in median and average home sizes in the U.S. That trend continues into 2020, with the second quarter report showing the average home size dipped from 2,458 down to 2,264 square feet.  See NAHB
