U.S. Architectural Billings Fall in December

The Architecture Billings Index (ABI) in December 2020 decreased 3.7 points to 42.6, according to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Economics & Market Research Group. A score below 50 indicates a decline in billings. Design contracts dropped 0.1 points from November to 48.5, while inquiries rose for the fifth straight month.

December billings remained negative in all regions, with the Northeast and West continuing to have the softest business conditions. Firms of all specializations saw billing declines, including multi-family residential which had been on rebound through summer and fall.  See AIA
