U.S. residential furniture factory orders in September were $2.32 billion, down 9.0% from the comparable month last year but 5.0% higher than August. Year-to-date new orders decreased 1.4% compared to the first three quarters of 2023.
Furniture shipments declined 6.5% from last September to $2.17 billion and fell 8.5% from August. Backlogs were $2.45 billion, shrinking 10.5% from September 2023 but up 1.5% from the prior month. See Smith Leonard
