September U.S. Consumer Confidence Drops

U.S. consumer confidence registered at 94.2 in September, down 3.6 points from the adjusted August reading, according to The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index. The index measuring current business and labor market conditions declined 7.0 points in September to 125.4. The short-term outlook index for the income, business, and labor markets fell 1.3 points from August to 73.4, remaining below the 80-mark for the eighth straight month, indicating a potential recession.
