Senators Stabenow (D-MI) and Braun (R-IN) this week introduced the Rural Forest Markets Act to support the 36% of U.S. forests owned by families and small operators. The bipartisan legislation is designed to provide this largest segment of U.S. forest ownership with the ability to generate revenue from potential carbon offset markets, foster investments in rural communities and support a robust wood products industry into the future. A press release announcing the legislation, including the proposed bill text is available online. See Rural Forest Markets Act
