Canadian building construction investment in December 2021 was up 1.9% from November to $18.4 billion (CAD). Residential construction spending grew 2.2% from November to $13.4 billion, and non-residential totals were up 1.1% in December to $4.9 billion. U.S. Construction Spending Slightly Up in December 2021
U.S. construction spending in December 2021 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.64 trillion, up 0.2% from November and a 9% increase over the year prior. Seasonally adjusted Canadian wood product sales in December 2021 were $3.82 billion (CAD), up 3.7% from November and stayed equal to the comparable month in 2020. Canadian Housing Starts Trend Lower in January
The monthly standalone seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of Canadian housing starts in January was 230,754 units, down 3% from December 2021.
