Construction Investment Declines in Canada

Canadian building construction investment in June decreased 3.1% from May to $18.0 billion (CAD). Residential construction spending dropped 4.5% to $12.1 billion in June. Seasonally adjusted single-family construction spending was 5.7% lower than May at $6.2 billion. Multi-unit levels fell 3.1% to $5.9 billion in June. The monthly standalone seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of Canadian housing starts in July was 254,966 units, 10.1% lower than June.
