U.S. consumer confidence in June registered at 98.1, rising 14.2% from May, according to The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index. The index measuring current business and labor market conditions increased from 68.4 in May to 86.2, and the short-term outlook for income, business and labor market rose from 97.6 last month to 106.0 in June.

Total seasonally adjusted shipments for all U.S. manufacturing industries in May rose 3.1% from April to $417 billion. U.S. wood product manufacturing shipments totaled $8.6 billion, down 4.0% from April. May shipments of furniture and related products increased 4.3% to $6.1 billion. New orders for all U.S. manufacturing increased 8.0% from April to $412.8 billion.
