This week, OSHA issued an update to guidance the agency prepared in 2020 for employers to address the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidance provides recommendations for employers to create programs and methodologies to continue to protect employees from COVID-19. OSHA also issued an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) for workplaces that employ healthcare workers. The ETS was originally drafted to cover all OSHA-regulated industries; however, the agency received extensive feedback from employers indicating that COVID-19 protective measures were already widely adopted in 2020, thereby making an emergency standard unnecessary for most workplaces.
