The Ontarian Government announced $5.3 billion (CAD) in funding to assist small and medium-sized forest sector businesses, including wood product manufacturers, to help offset the costs of implementing COVID-19 safety measures. Natural Resources Canada is providing the funding and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) will distribute the assistance.
The maximum allowable funding is $75,000 for one of the following items, whichever is less:
- Actual costs incurred to provide additional safety measures between April 1, 2020 and February 12, 2021
- $500 per full-time employee
To qualify, businesses must have fewer than 500 full- or part-time employees, be a for-profit corporation involved in specific industries including wood product manufacturing, operate in Ontario and have incurred a minimum of $1,000 in fees associated with implementing safety measures.
