Seasonally adjusted shipments for all U.S. manufacturing industries in October were $585.4 billion, down 0.2% from September but up 1.6% year-to-date from the comparable period in 2023. Wood product shipments increased 0.7% from last month to $13.1 billion but declined 0.7% for the year compared to 2023. Shipments of furniture and related products decreased 0.6% from September but rose 0.9% from the first ten months of 2023 to $6.8 billion.
New orders for all U.S. manufacturing were $586.7 billion in October, 0.2% higher than the prior month and up 0.4% from the same ten-month period in 2023. Furniture and related product orders totaled $6.8 billion, slipping 0.8% from September but growing 1.7% for the year compared to last year. See U.S. Census Bureau
