U.S. housing starts in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.31 million, decreasing 3.1% from September and 4.0% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts fell 6.9% to 970,000 in October.
U.S. building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.42 million, declining 0.6% from September and 7.7% from October 2023. Single-family authorizations rose 0.5% from September to 968,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
