October Canadian Building Permits Improve

Canadian building permits in October were up 2.3% to $11.2 billion (CAD) from September and increased 16.1% from the comparable period in 2022. Residential authorizations grew 0.6% from September and 15.9% from October 2022 to $7.1 billion. Single-family totals reached $2.8 billion, down 1.3% from September but 0.8% higher than last year. Multi-family levels were $4.4 billion in October, climbing 1.8% from September and soaring 28.1% from the previous year. Non-residential permits rose 5.3% from the prior month and 16.4% from October 2022 to $4.1 billion.
