This week, Senator Kennedy (R-LA) and Rep. Grothman (R-WI) introduced the “No IRIS Act of 2025” bill. The bill seeks to prevent the use of analyses conducted under the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) program in support of EPA regulatory initiatives. Notably, EPA used an IRIS assessment of formaldehyde to partially back its findings in the recently finalized formaldehyde risk evaluation under the Toxics Substances Control Act (TSCA). It is unclear how the proposed prohibition if passed, would impact the TSCA risk evaluation or ongoing efforts to develop a TSCA risk management rule. See No IRIS Act of 2025. More Info: Andy O’Hare
