Mexico Manufacturing Increases in July

The IHS Markit Mexico Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 40.4 in June, increasing 1.8 points from June. For the fifth consecutive month, new orders and production fell as companies continued to deal with the fallout from COVID-19.  However, the rate of decline slowed in June compared to April and May when the pandemic more heavily impacted manufacturing.  Companies continued to reduce staff and purchasing.

The PMI index is composed of five sub-indices tracking changes in new orders, output, employment, suppliers' delivery times and stocks of raw materials. A reading above 50 indicates growth.  See IHS Markit
