U.S. Initiates Inquiry on Hardwood Plywood Imports from Vietnam

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced this week that it has initiated an inquiry into whether Vietnamese imports of hardwood plywood that use components from China are circumventing the existing antidumping and countervailing duties for Chinese hardwood plywood.  Should Commerce preliminarily determine that Vietnamese plywood is circumventing the existing duties, then U.S. Customs and Border Protection can begin collecting cash deposits on those imports.  The duties would be imposed on future imports, and on any unliquidated entries since the date Commerce initiated these inquiries.  The inquiry by the Commerce Department is being pursued at the request of the Coalition for Fair Trader in Hardwood Plywood.  See Commerce Press Release.  More Info: Jackson Morrill
