U.S. Multifamily Housing Projects Affected by Pandemic

A multi-family construction firm survey asking about changing marketing conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic found that more than 50% were experiencing construction delays. The National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) surveyed 78 firms between May 11-20 and found conditions similar to the two previous COVID surveys in March and April.

Of those surveyed, 29% reported being affected by a lack of materials, with 65% citing issues finding countertops and cabinets. Respondents totaling 17% noted closed facilities in the U.S. and abroad as adding to supply chain problems. Similarly, 17% encountered rising material costs, compared to 5 and 4% in the two previous surveys.  See NMHC
